Today’s brief teaching goes hand in hand with a song called, It Was My Sin, from the worship recording Let It Rain. This song came to me on February 5, 1992.
It Was My Sin was written during a time when I needed to remind myself – my soul – what Jesus has done for me and simply worship His majesty and greatness! When Satan attacks, his main weapon is the lies he brings into and against my thoughts. This song was received as a gift from my Father to my heart. As the Holy Spirit is faithful to remind me of the truth (He is my Father and I am His child by virtue of my debt being paid by the blood of the Lamb), the truth becomes like a cleansing rain upon my heart, soul and flesh.
14 "And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.” John 3:14-17 NASB
Jesus did not have to take my sin upon Himself. After all, I turned my back on Him. The Good News is that He kept pursuing me and kept seeking to find me…and He took all my sin and all my shame upon Himself and paid my debt and washed me clean…and loves me with the most massive love the world has ever known. He lavished my heart with love and met my lost soul with the deepest of kindness and made me feel welcome. That makes me want to follow Him to this day. Let’s be mindful of all He did to bring us salvation and freedom throughout the course of the coming days and weeks. Let’s just be grateful to God…and let Him know of our gratitude often.
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath [of God] through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only [this,] but we also celebrate in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. Romans 5:8-11 NASB
Let’s take some time to Worship along with this song, It Was My Sin, and let us take the work of Christ on the cross very personally and let the rain of God’s redeeming love rain down upon us for the next few minutes. Use the link below to hear the song.
