Yet You are holy,
O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
Psalm 22:3 NASB

Today I am going to tell you how a song about Jesus being King of my life was born. That song - You Alone Are King - is one of my favorites I still sing to this day. For so long, my life seemed worthless to me. That way of thinking changed as I focused on how much worth God’s redemption has bestowed upon my life. The paradox here is that my sin did make me unworthy, yet God deemed my life worth the life of His Son, Jesus, and Jesus felt I was worth giving up the glories and riches of heaven for.

Worship is relationship. Relationship begins in the heart. God’s Word says that He inhabits the praises of His people. As I meditated on this truth, I saw my heart as His throne – a place reserved for only one King, Jesus Christ. As the music began to flow from these thoughts, I realized that God was truly the Author of my faith, singing His love over me. In that instant I sincerely felt the embrace of God and bowed in worship to my heart’s true King. No other had ever met my needs like Jesus. No one else could cleanse and heal as He can. He alone is my heart’s deepest desire and He alone is the Ruler – the King of my heart. Following are the lyrics to the song:

You alone reign in majesty!
You alone reign in glory!
You alone! You alone!
You along are King!

Verse
Maker of music

Hold me and sing over me
Sing me Your love song
Fill me with grace
I long to know Your embrace!

Even though we live an a dark and unbelieving world, we can hold on to this truth: [Rom 14:11 NASB] 11 For it is written, "AS I LIVE, SAYS THE LORD, EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW TO ME, AND EVERY TONGUE SHALL GIVE PRAISE TO GOD.”

Jesus alone is King - even if the world refuses to acknowledge that fact. He rules and reigns and uses even what the enemy means for evil against us for our good and His glory.

Revelations 19:11-16 in the NASB say it like this: 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it [is] called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes [are] a flame of fire, and on His head [are] many diadems; and He has a name written [on Him] which no one knows except Himself. 13 [He is] clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white [and] clean, were following Him on white horses. 15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Jesus is still, always has been, and always will be the King of Kings - King alone. Let us not lose heart when faced with darkness or pain or sorrow or suffering. He wastes nothing. We but have to worship Him, praise Him, and He is enthroned upon our hearts enjoying sweet fellowship with us! We can do this anywhere, anytime, and under any circumstances. That’s how far-reaching the reign of King Jesus is! What a great King!
